The Best Social Media Post Format You’re Probably Not Using
Jess Ogo
Show real value with “3 ways to use X” posts—savable, shareable content that builds trust and helps customers see your product in daily life.

Brands talk all day long about posts that deliver value. But they seem to forget that the value doesn't have to come in dollar form. Free shipping or 25% off can only take your brand so far, but delivering value can be as simple as giving your audience a reason to use your product again tomorrow.

That's where the "3 ways to use x" post format comes in. This content not only shows consumers what your product can do in the wild, it also convinces those fence sitters that this product is actually going to fix a real problem they're facing right now. The 3 ways posts are savable and shareable, which makes this type of content an effortless tool that delivers real value.

You need to give them proof that your product isn't a purchase they'll regret, it's one they can actually integrate into their day to day.

Let's talk about what this should look like.

  1. Styled, Not In Your Dirty Clothes Pile

When it comes to apparel, it's important that your "3 ways" shows how it's worn. Not just what it's made of! This can be UGC content, flat lays, or a GRWM for a full day of events. However, it's very important to note here, clothing is for everyone so try to show a variety of people overtime (even if it takes a couple of these posts!).

Your content should be outfit inspo, not a clear sales pitch.

  1. The More The Merrier

More ways = more value. "3 lunches I made this week with our chili crunch" turns the purchase of one jar into 3 meals they can count on your product for. But you can use the same premise for skin care too! "3 ways to use our toner if you’ve got sensitive skin" takes your product from a post-wash step to a 3-in-1 tool (without actually becoming a 3-in-1, that would be a 🚩). Their $12 investment just became the best bang for their buck, on the market.

  1. Make It Feel Personal

This content is for you consumers to relate to. Make sure you talk to them not at them. Your phrasing should be a little more casual and the less jargon you use, the better. This content performs best when it feels like a tip from a friend.

Do whatever you need to do to make this content feel natural. Use creator content. Use UGC. Use your team. Show real people using the product three ways in their real life. Low lift. High trust.

At the end of the day...

“3 ways to use x” posts build trust, show versatility, and help your customer picture your product in their life. That’s what sells. Not specs. Not slogans. Use > hype. The proof is in the pudding.
